Cutting a blowhole for the YY cube
Hi all!
Well, I might as well get some advice BEFORE I do more cutting and screw things up even more. Okay, I plan on cutting 2 blowholes on the top of the YY cube similar to Kevin's. I have a dremel and a power drill (i'm not sure if it's *that* powerful). Anyways, This is what I was thinking. I would like as much feedback as possible. 1) trace hole 2) along the inner circumference drill out a series of holes using the power drill. 3) use the dremel to cut out the "honey comb" 4) use grinding bit or file. sound good? Thanks alot! |

just use the drill to drill the 4 mounting holes (use the fan grill to mark the 4 holes, as well as the circle you plan on cutting. take your time measuring, so your holes are not crooked). use dremal alone to cut the hole out (using reinforced fiberglass cut-off wheels). use a curved file so smooth the hold out, OR, use some molding to cover it up. if you want, you can go to my crappy website and see how i cut out my window (same priciple as cutting out a blowhole, lots of short, straight lines). just take your time on everything, and it *should* come out ok!

Don't forget... a cd rom has a diameter of 120mm... So it's the perfect guide to trace a circle for your blow hole!

if you make a circle, whatever you do, cut 3 or 4mm on the inside of the line, you can always cutout more, but it's a lot harder to cutout less
