1st: This is not the place to sell pirated software! 2nd: I got mine as a free update because I purchased my servers within the period of 60 days before SnapOS v4 was released http://www.snapappliance.com/page.cf...napos4&Nav=NAS ("If you have proof that you purchased your Snap Server within 60 calendar days of the release date or were covered under a Snap Care Service Program, you are entitled to this software upgrade free of charge.") |

Yep, they are now present. Now if ˆ could just get my Snap 1000 bck to thinking it is a 1000, instead of the 4000, so I could reload these files. Can't get it to boot at all, right now.

Im not selling it, im asking for donations, and anyway i paid for the snap os for me snap server.
Using explorer i get that it timed out. Do i need a FTP Client? I can't see the folders. Will someone upload my snap os v4 and S2S and snap extensions to it when it works please, as i dont have broadband and its a bit hard for me to do it. |

I'm not sure what the trouble is with your upload. It looks like someone has already uploaded snap OS4 and server sync. |

to image the HD, remove it from the snap, install it in your PC. Then, run whichever imaging program you prefer on it (there are lots) to save an image (i.e.. a single file with an exact copy of the snap drive) to your C drive. (make sure you have enough free space first of course). I would recommend using something that can make an exact bit-by-bit copy. I use Symantec's ghost for that (search google for ghost32.exe, you can run it from windows). |

RAM upgrade to Meridian Server
I read on a post that it was possible to replace the 32 Mb FPM SIMM in the original Meridian servers with a 64 Mb SIMM. I tried this once (long ago) but obviously didn't have the right kind of 64 Mb SIMM.
Can anyone point me to a online store that has the correct kind of SIMM to perform this upgrade? |

In windows Ghost don't see the drive. PQ Partition Magic sees the drive, but it is unallocated. Maybe the reason why ghost can't see it. In Knoppix 'DD' only makes a 5mb file which cannot be the hard drive, as the os if 40mb or something. I can't use g4u, due to not having an ftp server (ok, my snap server can be an ftp, but i can't access it as one.) Diskpro cant see any drive in windows. Dolly closes on registration. Any ideas, as im stumped. When i put it back in the snap server, it recognised it fine.
The new drive (which i put in me pc) has 15 files on it, totalling 75mb. The original has 82 files totalling 76mb. Both will boot independent of each other. Yet on both there are no files of mine on it. It seems that 76mb must be the os. However i formatted both. This is what i got. Original - 7 files - 75mb. New - 7 Files - 75mb. I noticed on the new drive during format that the total was 75,811 mb, but drops to 74,774 after the format. Wheres that 1037mb gone? After reinstallation of Java (34 files in the sup). The original drive had 56 (51 before restart) files totalling 79mb. I then removed the original and rebooted with just the new one (now it has 11 files, still 75mb) and it wouldn't let me install Java, from assist or from the web browser, any ideas from anyone? Both must keep the network share info on them, as it still had the info for the old drive. Anyone got any ideas how to get onto the os_private hidden folder? Also bill, whenever i access your ftp from windows ftp (in explorer) it always times out when getting the files. Any ideas? Do i need an FTP client? Someone asked about going back to v3 or something. 'This process cannot be cancelled once it is started and the server must not be shut down until its completion. Furthermore, an upgrade across a major version cannot be reversed.' So it would seem no.. Anyone who has bought a second hand snap server, would be worth checking its registered, it gives access to some files. Go to www.snapappliance.com click on login or register on the left. Then enter your servers serial number. For the ghost32.exe i will look for it tonight. It is version 2003 so it may have it. |

To create the Ghost bootable floppy disk Create an MS-DOS system disk: If running Windows Me or Windows 98: Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Click the Startup Disk tab. Click Create Disk. Follow the prompts. If running Windows XP: Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk. Open Windows Explorer. Right-click the A drive, and click Format. Check "Create an MS-DOS startup disk" in the 'Format Options' section. Follow the prompts. Use Ghost Boot Wizard to create a Ghost bootable floppy disk. Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk. Open Ghost Boot Wizard and follow the prompts to create a bootable floppy disk. When you see the choice for PC-DOS or MS-DOS, click Get MS-DOS and insert the Windows 98/Me/XP Startup Disk into the floppy disk drive. Ghost Boot Wizard copies the MS-DOS system files from the Startup Disk to the hard disk. These are the MS-DOS files that the Ghost Boot Wizard places on the Ghost bootable floppy disk. When you see the choice for Format, Quick Format, Full Format, and so on, check an option which includes the word "Format." The exact choices differ according to the operating system that is running. If you do not check one of the formatting options, rather than an option such as "Copy system files," the bootable floppy disk may use an unsupported DOS version. Checking the format option ensures that Ghost copies a supported DOS version to the bootable floppy disk. The full text is available here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...&osv=&osv_lvl= |

i dont think that will make any difference - when i try to copy the drive (in pc dos using parameters) it says unreadable disk (SRC=2) or something similar. i used ghost.exe -clone,mode=create,SRC=2,DST=1:1\Image.gho
edit - ive just tried again with ghost.exe -ia -clone,mode=copy,SRC=2,DST=3 and it gave me the error message: Invalid Source Drive, Usage Error 11030. Last edited by Chicken Kiev; 09-24-2004 at 03:46 AM. |
