voltage mod for Abit KR7A

Hey guys i was wondering if any of y'all who got an Abit KR7A or similar mobos (eg. one with raid) if y'all tried to v mod it. If so can u please post pics? I never did a voltage mod on my mobos so this should be a first one. If I see it that would make it easier for me to make something out of it.

Thx
Sonix

btw- i found a thread on voltage moddin the Abit KR7A on the Overclockers forum @ http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showth...0&pagenumber=1

what VRM does it have? I'm sure there's some other mobo that uses the same one. if there's not, just look up the specs for the VRM chip and get a pot and some wire and wire to the voltage sensor like so:

ground--(wire)---pot--(wire)--voltage sensor leg on VRM

just start with the pot at full resistance(50k ohm should work) and then just watch the voltage in a health monitor as you SLOWLY dial the resistance down. this should raise the voltage and eventually the screen will black out. at this point you will need to back off a little and then you should successfully be vmodded.

in addition to this, if you need more voltage still, look for the voltage feedback pin and do the same thing to it that you just did to the voltage sensor pin and you SHOULD be able to pull a little more voltage out of it.

BE CAREFUL! you will probably notice a significant rise in your core temperature.

try dropping the multiplier another notch, sometimes the cpu's won't run as high on a higher FSB.

i may be wrong but!

if you change the fsb then you can also sometimes change the pci bus speed and if teh audgy is like teh sblive platinum they really don't like that try it without the sound card as the problem may haunt you no matter what mother board you use...

Good luck anyway.

yeah I heard that too. I got Basic Ram so that could be it. Right now I am watercooled running 11x155 and I can go to 10x multiplier now. The only problem now is that I cant put hte FSB at 170. Its teh same speed running rihgt now but it just doesnt work wiht high FSB.

Oh well
