First one seems a little out dated compared to stuff we already have done. Second one has been discussed. What is more interesting is Intel and AMD applying for patents on on die TEC technology.

I noticed Sapphire was delving into that too (On die TEC) after they pushed the Liquid Metal cooling to the back burner.

The guy who came of up with "Liquid Metal Cooling", ahhhh.... what's his name... former thermal engineer for IBM.... whatever... already has patents on on die TEC technology. I don't know about the specifics of his design, but I know he's had them for some time. 3+ years.
They were derived from some "micro fridge" (whatever the hell that means) technology he worked on at IBM. I recall in an interview in CPU magazine that he said that what made his on die TEC special was that he modified its geometry into a pyramid like shape. The idea was to take the heat and mechanically spread it over a larger surface area. |
