how about a timer? either a timed relay, or something more complex like http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.sto...uct/View/K2807

the water temp goes down enough to supply 12v to the timer. this sets it off, which turns on a relay to turn the pump on. the timer is preset to say 20 seconds or however long it takes to fill up the main level

marco
the exact produt for the thing i called switch is a latching relay
the latching relay remains in a position until their is current to make it change.
so when relay 2 close and let current flow, the latching relay will let current flow to the pump. now even if relay 2 opens, the latching relay will stay closed and let current flow to the pump
relay 1 is set to open the latching relay. when relay 1 closes, the latching relay will change to open and no current flow to the pump. when relay 1 open, nothing happens.
latching relay info from a company
this is a relay made exactly for what we want.
on other site i also found latching relay.

Thankx nuclear! I will look those up next time I am around the local electronics suppliers. Maybe I can convince someone I know in the industry to procure me a few samples

Have attempted to obtain a sample latching relay, no luck so far. Have been extremely busy with other things of late that all my projects have been indefinitely postponed
