DD-12V res and mounting (Phaetus)

Hi all.
Just gotten the 12V DD pump (MC-201DC-N 12V), but before I mount it, I would like to know, whether it can be mounted upside down? So that the outlet points downwards. The manual shows some "do's and dont's", but not this specific configuration.
And what about a res for the pump. My old Eheim has been modded to accomodate a res directly on the inlet, so there aren't any restriction on the inlet.
But this doesn't seem possible on the DD... Any suggestions on mounting a res directly on the intake?

@ anybody that reads this: Thanks!

Will make no difference with the outlet pointing down, I have one of mine mounted that way. I would hesitate to have the INLET mounted downward, but that is not the case. As for a res directly on the inlet, not necessary but I think I saw someone make a custom res for that pump right on the inlet, if I can find who did it I'll link it.

The inlet will be horisontal - I agree, that it wouldn't be a good idea with the pump having to suck. That's also why I want to build a res directly on the inlet... Think I'll use some 45mm dia. plastic-tube with a screw-lid (wonder where I can find that in DK?), and silicone/epoxy fittings on it...

You mean this one Nikhsub1? I could've sworn that there were pic's in that thread of it actually mounted to the D4 but either they dissapeared or there never were any . I know I've seen pic's of a D4 mounted to that res somewhere so if I find them I'll post the link.

Thanks for the replies, guys!
Another question for ya:
What about encapsulating the pump... It's rather noisy, and would like to put in a box, and fill the box with foam, but I'm concerned, that i it will get to hot... Or will it just dump the heat it can't dissipate through the casing, in the water?
