yo can i buy a raw spir@l block off you??? just needs to have the sipr@l milled

i would make my own but the mills at my school sux, well more like the software and controllers
they're running them in Dos

well how many peices od acrylic are U needing?

I dont have any raw spirals machined, all the ones that are currently machined are spoken for, and then some

well for that small of a quantie I think that if you paid for shipping, I would not be terably hurt in letting U have them, just let me get my sheet cut up ok?

I drew the block is Smart cam a 2 1/2 d cad cam software, only about $7,000

rough is fine

there is a machine shop in my school we have 3 big ass horizontal mills and a vertical one

think it would be hard to make a circle?

the CNC's we have are messed up and are using torsim in DOS

i think i'll have to borrow the manual

i wish i could steal one of them

those bastards running them on 640k of memory

why are the dementions of the circles U want machined into the tops? maybe I can help U out with that.

that's what i'm gonna do

but i need to make up the dimensions

i have two copper block just sitting here waiting to be machined and hopefully i'll start this week

the dimension of the circles is 18mm radius

but there might be a change in design

well i got the manuals for the destop CNC we have at school (it's a blue one )

and with the circle making... @ school we have a vise that can be turned 360* for the manual mill

but i don't think we have any bits for plastic, i know there's some for steel and aluminum

Dunno about milling, but when drilling you use steel bits at a low rpm (100-500, to avoid melting the plastic).

the same for acrylic and milling, use a 1/2 in end mill at very low RPM should work good if the endmill is really sharp, remember you want chips coming off, not dust or melting plastic.

If you are an impatient bastard you can do it faster but you need plenty of cooling water all the time, like really flowing over it.

the one we have at school is alot bigger than yours

we have two of'em
one is like a old POS (the colours are green, looks like its from the 70's )

i'll try and get some pics of it

i bet if you had the one we have you could make twice as many Spir@ly's
