Heatsink/ Heat Pipe / ThermoSiphon Cooling The cat will only make the mistake of putting its paw by your HSF once. :) Also the place to discuss the new high end heat pipe goodness.

Default Heatsink/Fan Forumn = dead

I think this forumn is officially dead. No one has posted anything in here forever and ever and being this is an extreme cooling site i'd say hat a coincidence lol!

Maybe they should post some temperature readings on different Heat Sinks with Fan so people can have more ideas whether to replace or as to which to buy next.

Like, using Mobos that read temps- one for Athlon 1.4 and one for socket 370.
Then post a list of temp. readings on various HSFs including especially, the ones that came with the processor from OEM/Box etc...

When I started assembing this PC for myself, I read a lot of sites doing HSF comparisons.
Many even include long pages about the unique way of how they measure the temps- leaving me confused, w/o a point of reference and very unsatisfied, since they didn't even include an OEM HSF for comparison.

When I eventually bought one & replaced the HSF, it was done more on curiosity.

I now have three HSF and some idea of how each performs against one another.

A small GlobalWIN FHP08 that seems to soak up a lot of heat then & cools with its 6400rpm fan.

A larger GlobalWIN FNP08 that seems be just warm & cools with its 6000 rpm fan.

Then the Intel OEM HSF that seems warmer than the FNP08 (about the same size) & cools with a fan that spins below 4000 rpm.

All of the above I carefully applied w/ Arctic SilverII on top of Intel 733Mhz cpu.

Right now I have upgraded my mobo and sad to say, it doesn't read temps nor fan rpms- like my older mobo(fan rpm only).

Maybe the FHP08 is more efficient.
Anyway, I decided to use the FNP08.
The Intel HSF I glued on the case floor, blowing cool air upwards, straight to a 7200rpm hard drive.

Hope I have entertained.

zalman With a 60 to 80 adopter-

I would still think 6063 aluminun to be tops.
I heard it's formulated in space- the derivative of its existence that is. If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the purest aluminum, lighter than most others, has a distinctive smell, absorbs heat faster than other aluminum variety.
I'm not sure how it compares against copper in that aspect of heat absorption.

Jokes about it goes like: "Heat sink is about the only use for it"

Where GlobalWIN gets the stuff I don't know.

(Good, ya? )
