Default SMbus tempsensor for reading XP diode

I have designed a curcuit board that has 2 Max1668 chips and 8 diode locked transistor inputs for reading the XP's internal diode and 7 other temps. This will allow you to use MBM5 to read all 8 temps. I'm having a bunch of these blank boards made. I would like to share them with the overclocking group. I will give these to anyone who wants one at cost, which is about $20 US. I'm not trying to make any money on this. I want to give a little back to the group. I've learned alot from reading this forum and feel I should contribute.

The inputs Jp2 to Jp8 are three pins to alow you to gound the shield. Jp1 is for a cable to plug it into the Smbus header on the MB. I will do a howto for installing on both the SMbus header and solding to the MB. With what pins on the back of the socket to solder the wire for XP internal diode. Here is a pic of the board.

Abits usually have SMBus headers, and if they don't then you can just tap into the SMBus signals from the backside of the mobo at pin 91 and 92 of the DIMM (for DDR mobos). I have the pinouts somewhere...

Stepback any chance of getting one of these with a 6655 and 2 1668s? The 6655 has two remotes that are more accurate, and voltage monitoring. Then the 2 1668s would provide 8 more temps at 3C accuracy

I have not got a big enough request for these and the cost is to high to cover myself. But if I get enough people to pick in here is the cost on the blank fab's. The more of them I have made the lower the cost.

Price for 15 boards is $300.00 / $20.00 ea.
For 30 boards $405.00 / $13.50 ea.
For 60 boards $480.00 / $8.00 ea.

I'd rather build one myself, but I would be interested in the schematics

What type of output does it have? Which probes will it take? Can I adapt it to USB?

You should be able to hand solder the 6657 no problem

Yesterday, I received the rest of the samples that I ordered: 1668, 1617, 1617A, 1618 and 1669. I also received a catalog, both on paper and CD.

As for soldering, checkout: http://www.madhacker.org/mbmsensors.html

Guys please do not go crazy requesting ICs from maxim. That is a service they provide to engineers and product design people who are prototyping and trying to choose a chip.

Yes I also scored samples from them. The difference would be that I also purchased a MAX6655 system from them that should be here soon (needed the 1/8C res and software).

If you ask digikey they should be able to get them, and there is (I believe) no minimum order on some of the ICs.

Good point pHaestus!

I really intend to test these chips, and if I can come up with a product that I can sell using them, then that's what I'll do.

If you have no such intentions, then please, for everyone else's benefit, leave the manufacturers alone.
