Default Rebuilding 2200 after failed stripe?

Hi there!

I picked up a 2200 off someone, and it came with 2X 250GB maxtors in RAID 0.

Seems like the top drive has failed, since the machine boots perfectly with it removed.

It seems like I should be able to reformat the array by using the command
config device 10010 /reinit

Is this right?

Here's the output from info devices

----------------------------------------
Logical Device: 10016 Position: 0 JBOD Size (KB): 32296 Free (KB): 22496 Private Mounted
Label:Private Contains system files only
Unique Id: 0x55123AA629677B41 Mount: /priv Index: 12 Order: 0

Logical Device: 40000 Position: 1 SPAN_BROKEN Size (KB): 487576816 Free (KB): 0 Public Unmounted

Thanks!

In raid 0 there is no redundcy, NO recovery.

The top drive is 10000.
When you install a new hd the unit should format it. Since there is no recovery for raid 0.
Use the disk utility to reset your drives as you like.

If the drive needs formating it would be "co de format 10000 /reinit"

Perfect!

Sorry for the misleading use of "recovery". I didn't mean it in the data recovery sense, more in the "let me use this again" sense.

Hmm.

When I try "co de format 10000 /reinit", it tells me "Invalid device id 10000 requested". This also happens if I use 10010 instead of 10000.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

With raid 0 stripping data is spread across 2 drives. I think the snap put the os on both drives. So the unit boots.

Look at the log and see what error it reports and/or "co de info" from debug.

You can use the web interface also to change the drive config. But if the top drive (10000) is mia you may not be able to chage it to JBOD.

If the unit was in raid0 the strip partition is 40000. So "co de format 40000 /reinit" may work.

the output of co de info is in my first post.

Trying "co de format 40000 /reinit" tells me
"/reinit" flag invalid for logical set or private partition.

Anything else?

Thanks!

Have you replace the drive?
10000 is the main drive.

What options does the web interface gives you in the disk utility?
You are going to need to replace the drive, and rebuild, or change the configuration to JBOD. JBOD will allow you to use it with one drive.

The 2200 will boot from either drive.
