Don't forget to heatsink it.

Also note you won't be able to get more than ~12V out of the regulator with a 14.8V supply. If you just want to drop around a volt (i.e. get ~13.8V) then you could use two diodes in series on the output. A silicon diode has a voltage drop of about 0.6V so that would drop 1.2V giving you 13.6-13.7V. You'll need to chose diodes with suitable current handling capabilities - 5A or better.

I just got a tripplite brand new. PR4.5 IIRC. Its been running 24.7 on the two pumps for a week now. Gets pretty hot but voltage stays right at 13.8 on load. I opened it up and the design is actually pretty similar. I got it for $35 delivered so I cant really complain. I'll mess with that other one when I get the time.
