Default DD5 and sub 0 temps?

Under the digidocs specs, it list temp reading from 0-100C. Well what about those of us who plan on having idle temps a bit below 0C? Is a compunurse the only answer? I like the idea of the compunurse, I just think they look kinda of ugly.

No one knows if the digidoc can go further than its specified 0 C limit? What other cool looking temp devices are there that will?

I agree, DigiDoc craps out at around 0 C...

I built a dual Pelt chiller block and had it all outfitted with DD5 probes. As temps approach zero C, readings get real erratic or just lock onto some number (like 34?). Very dissapointing. Oh well...

I like the looks of the digi doc. Is there anything that has the appeal of the digi doc, that can go sub 0?

yep that would do it for me if it reads below 0. Let me know how your freezer test goes.

HELLL YA. this temp probe is Da SHIT!!!! looks great. i stuck the "paper thin" probe into my freezer and within 10sec it read -15c then i stuck it in my mouth and it read 36.5c talk about accuacy!!!! and only for $15.

So yes it doeas read below 0c and it is accurate, and it looks good, and it is small enough to mount on a AMD and on the side of a northie....

Sorry for the exitment but my previous temp probe was from radio shack $20 and the indoor/outdoor temps did not match, and under my tonge it read 33c or so. piece of shit!!!

Wow thanks, that is a pimp little thermo, and cheap to boot. Since my comp project is on hold until Christmas break most likely, do you think SVC will be around selling those past December?

~Cheers

the company has been arounf for some time. They got the cheapest AS3!! thats how i found them a while back. as for the temp monitor i have no cloo drop them and e-mail

The leads are 50cm long. maybe on the short side if u have a large case but more than enough for my mid tower.also i'm checking if they are waterproof. so far the probe has survived at the bottom of my T for the past 4hrs. i think it should be fine for my water temps as well!!!

Got it yesterday. I left it in the freezer overnight, but of course the circuit froze. It came back alive around -3 deg C. I'll have to try it again, with only the probes this time...

Thinking about it, I don't have anything very cold in the house, except the freezer...

Well, actually, it did register -13, I just didn't recognize it! The minus sign appears in the area for the second digit (-13) so I had this weird T shape instead of a "1" digit, which I assumed meant that it was too cold to operate.

I took the thing completely apart, because there was a protective plastic film left on the glass of the readout. There's a simple circuit, similar to a wristwatch. The display is connected by electrically conductive rubber material, and the housing clamps it all down. The display has a "PM" option, but it doesn't seem to be used.

There are two pegs that can be seen on the front, and those retain the clear cover, along with the aluminium mask. These pegs are retained from behing the front by a screw.

If you want an aluminium finish, you could remove the clear piece.

The temp probes are the flat kind. Very nice. they do have a length of about 23 inches, which is convenient. The temps seem about correct, but the response time can be pretty slow: going from -13 to +20 took 30 seconds.

Putting it all backtogether, the temp display was blinking. I took the battery off, and put it back in, and everything was fine. There are no buttons or controls. There's a missing jumper on the board marked X1, but I don't know what it's for.

What I also don't know is the specs for this thing. Could it read below -19.9 deg C? I don't know! There's no manual included, just a simple (but appropriate) packaging that says "made in China". There's a pic of another model with only one temp readout.

Worth $15? Yeah, it'll do, for now.

Many months later I am finally completing my Liquid/Pelt cooled system.
I went to the SVC site, but they don't have the device you were talking about. Do you have any other sub zero reading devices that have some sexy appeal and fit in a drive bay??

~Cheers
