Running the Tubing! Help!
I have my whole compressor setup and Im building a chiller. I have my reservoir built, I have my copper tubing and capillaries. I just need to know how to run the copper tubing and capillaries from my compressor and condensor setup into the chiller tank and how to connect them to the in-chiller evaporator. I am so puzzled on where to braze the piping? I know how to braze but where do I connect them and how much do I need? I plan on just making a coil of copper for the reservoir and submerging it but how do I connect all this back to the compressor setup? I was hoping someone could help me pix or explain it or anything you can do? I need some help to finish this guy and I know Im in the right place to get the help. thanks
Heres my unit....http://store.bizarresurplus.com/product.asp?0=222&1=223&3=64 May have to copy and paste into browser! |

You should do some studying before you put the system together.
This is a great place to start: http://www.refrigerationbasics.com/1024x768/rb1.htm Read through most of those pages and study the pictures. Since it is a condensing unit, you only need to braze the capillary to a flared piece of pipe then screw that flare onto the reciever and tighten it.Now you have your capillary coming from the liquid line. Then take the other end of the capillary and braze it in one end of your evaporator coil. Then the other end of the evap you could braze to a piece of copper pipe with a flared end and tighten it on the low side valve. Good luck

You can buy a flaring tool.

The picture, or a flaring tool?
The picture is honestly the best one I have of my evil step-mother, so I thought I'd share. A flaring tool can be purchased at home depot.
