Ask DD, and I would ship it back with an explanation that the box was open on delivery and not as advertized. You should have declined the shipment. Never accept the package if it is open on delivery.

Ok. Case closed then? Good thing they have good customer service. I know a lot of comapnies that would have said "To Bad".

My impression was that those numbers were date codes.

0306 = Week 6 of 2003

thats very possible but I had a 172w tec before the 0306 like in december 2002 and it was 030x so unless they stamp dates in advance

Ok, that shoots that theory.

I've got several TEC's that are supposed to be 172W. If I remember I'll post their numbers tonight.

You can work out if its a 172 or not by the thickness, smaller wattage ones are thicker. If you take a caliper/vernier or micrometer to it, or a ruler if you got good eyes i can tell you.

Ok, I've got:

Two 0202's bought secondhand, don't know how old.

One 0206 bought about 9 months ago from DD.

One 0302 bought about a month ago from DD.
