Default Trouble Booting a 4500

I have just bought a 4500 and have some new 500gb drives to go in it. I have tried putting them in and booting the unit but it doesnt seem to boot to any partiular os. Do i need to install anything on these drives or partition them prior to installing them?

thanks

You need the Guardian OS which normally resides on the HD's. If you have the original HD. Install them in the order they were removed, Snapshots and AV should be disabled. Then install your new HD in slot 2, boot the 4500. After about 5-6 min you should see activity on the new HD as the OS is transfered. Then power down and remove the old HD and move the one in slot 2 to slot 1. See if the unit boots if so hot swap the remaining HD.

Hi

Thanks for your response.

I have put the original drives that came with it back in, in the correct order but its just displays "Fail to boot from all devices, System hang!"

Is there anything more i can try or is it a dead unit?

thanks

Sounds to me like the drives are wiped... You will now need a tech to install the OS back onto your drives for you. I do this, but not for free. Someone else might do it for you, but I doubt for free. Good luck...

Each case if different, so there is no set price, at least from me, but I try to be reasonable (as people who have dealt with me will tell you).

If you want me to do this, send me an email to phoenix32x@hotmail.com and provide all the information you can. What you have and what you need. Your location is also important (due to shipping and international laws that might apply). I will get back to you ASAP with options and prices after that.

Feel free to ask people here for my reputation, public or private, if you are in any doubt.
