Heatsink/ Heat Pipe / ThermoSiphon Cooling The cat will only make the mistake of putting its paw by your HSF once. :) Also the place to discuss the new high end heat pipe goodness. |

Open up your intake, not fan quantity :-)
300cfm will cool 1500W 100cfm will cool 100W The problem is getting the right cfm to the right place at the right time - admittedly more fans is easier than ducting :-) Most cases have very poor air intake: o Case punching = high resistance to airflow ---- slotted/hole punching = 45-55% brick wall ---- round wire grill = 9-11% brick wall ---- so a noise issue as well as airflow restrictive o Plastic fascia can be the weakest link in the intake ---- often it is a simple 4"x1" cut-out ---- through which all your intake air must be drawn If appropriate exhaust fans are fitted, a fan-less grill of 80mm, 92mm or even 120mm in the front-lower-side can boost cooling. Cutting holes isn't easy - use a sheet-metal nibbler, cheap part from automotive supply shops vs h/w stores. -- Dorothy Bradbury www.stores.ebay.co.uk/panaflofan (Ebay) http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dorothy...ry/panaflo.htm (Direct) |
