Sorry - wasn't trying to start a "mine's bigger than yours" arguement here Just offering an alternative.

If you're interested - go to US Plastics web page and check the various types and prices for yourself

As far as bottom line price - shipping enters into it as well.

Check out how much nicer the bend radius is in the thick wall.

I gotta get some thickwall
I think that if we can get dangerden to carry it, they should sell it in 3 ft lengths... i never use more than a foot and a half... so i have all this tubing on my hands.

just an update. If you stretch tygon over a larger fitting (like i did over the huge fitting on the end of my ehiem 1250) and pull it off, the tubing will not shrink back to it's original OD, and when you put it back onto the same fitting it will be loose, and you WILL need to clamp it.

Tygon's 1.5" bend radius for 1/2" ID 3/4" OD is comparable to that of silicone. You can be sure of this because Tygon also makes silicone tubing and has the specs on its product list.

I'd like to post about the effects of uv dye in your tygon. I'm beginning to suspect that Tygons "resistance to uv degredation" also doesn't let uv light through. I have some crappy blue dyelite (not really dyelite) but the glow from it, through my tubing, is VERY fait - almost nonexistant. I sprung a leak the other day, and I immediately was able to see the glowing water seeping out over my pump, and the glow was very very bright.
I'm not sure if it's just the blue dye, but others, plz reply!

Welp after playing around with tygon for a while i have come to find out a few things.

these grip the polypro fittings i got from usplastics REALLY good. i had to cut the hose off of it lol. they grip brass ok but need a clamp. id suggest EZ clamps they can be seen in joes DH3 project i belive.
after the clamps have been on it for a bit you can see the whole shape in the tygon from the clamps holding strong. but it didnt cut or break the tubing at all so i guess its good.

Tygon is nice ALOT better then silicone.

btw dog hair does stick just not even close to as much as silicone.

I went to usplastic.com and got ten feet of the "tygon tubing for chemicals" 1/2" inner, 3/4" outer, 1/8" wall. I have a heatercore/eheim 1250/maze3/dangerden geforce block coming soon, with 1/2" fittings, so I hope it works out.

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't 1/2" inner, 3/4" outer have a 1/4" wall? If it were 1/8" thick then it would have an outside diameter of 5/8"

You're wrong. a hose has two walls (for measurement purposes). 1/2" ID, + 1/8" x 2 walls= 3/4" OD

Hehe, DOH. I guess I think of it as one wall since it's continuous.
