DD D4 12v pump Prob

Hi

I've got a DD D4 pump and its making a load buzing noise is this normal, i don't think it should be so load. Hence my concerne, i think its broked but just making sure so i thought id ask the experts on this one.

How long has it been running? All the air out of the system?

been running about 8 hours now and there no air atall its not a gurgaling air noise its a buzing noise.

Jesus, I hope it isn't something with the deisgn. Mine will be here Saturday. :shrug: Don't some pumps have a burn-in period?

i hope this one does, damn thing is anoying. i have my fan on 12v instead of 4 so i don't here it.

Will see what its like tomorrow maybe it needs to get used to running or somin.

It seems D4 pumps do that type of noise .

It's not really a very quiet pump. You might try dampening it by wrapping some foarm around it, or if possible, you might try suspending it from the case frame with elastic or stretch magic. Do you have any dampening material between the pump and the case? The case may be amplifying the noise--especially if it's aluminum.

its bolted to the case with the bit of foam that they supply inbetween the case and the stand.

I was planning on mounting mine with industrial velcro. I hope that works.

That would work better becasue ther is no metal/metal contact as you would have with bolts. Velcro works great for pumps, especially if you attach velcro on top of some foam and then the foam to the case.

That's good to hear and thanks for the advice. What sort of foam would be best? BTW, dangerden says the D4 generates about as much noise as a typical 80mm fan. That ain't silent, but I can easily live with it in comparison to what I'm using now.
