will get here wed. (yea i am cheap on shipping) dont need them that much RIGHT now but i have a few watercooling projects in the cooker. And those pumps are perfect for it

Got mine yesterday.

The model# is actually CO30P5-1.

Specs (from doc included):
-3/4" hose connections
-7.1 gpm @ 3.3 feet (2.2 amps)
-5.3 gpm @ 6.6 feet (2.0 amps)
-3.0 gpm @ 9.8 feet (1.6 amps)
-needs a 2.5 amp fuse
-Can be mounted horizontal or vertical (motor up)
-Operating temp: -40C to +80C (-40F to +176F)

(from motor housing):
-Power: 25 Watts
-Flow: 23.3 l/min, USGPM 6.2 @ head 15 kPa, 4.9 feet.

No, I haven't run it yet. I'll post a pic, but it might take a couple of weeks (film not finished). The motor body is unfinished metal, not black. The motor diameter is 40 mm (from specs).

I'll try a run sometime over the next couple of days: I've got a piece of 3/4 tubing lying around right here.

I was also PM'd about this pump, and asked if it's really worth it, compared to an Eheim (1250).

The Eheim will probably cost ~$60, and has a max head of 2 meters (6 feet), while this $30 pump can easily do 3 meters, and still deliver 3 gpm (180 gph) at that height, so it's a real winner. It's a 12 volt pump, so it's going to run off of the PSU, with a max load of 2.2 amps, which shouldn't be a problem at all.

Both Stepback (in this forum) and Scopedog (Review Nation) use this pump. They report it makes no noise whatsoever. Zilch, nada. At some point Stepback had it mounted to a metal garage door --a nice acoustic platform. Still no noise.

FWIW.

The impeller is directly driven by the motor, which is probably why it's so energy efficient.

My Little Giant 2-MDQ-SC is magnetically driven, and although it will perform slightly better than this pump, it will use up to 180 Watts to do it.

which do you think would be a better preformer, a eheim 1048 or this? and second, if I get his should I worry about the drain on my PSU, I have a enermax 380watt, and I'm running a P4 2.8, geforce 4 4600, SB audigy platinum

The max head of an Eheim 1048 is 1.5 meters, or ~4.5 feet.

This Johnson pump can easily outperform not only an Eheim 1048, but also a 1250.

It will also outperform the even larger Eheim 1060, which has a max head of 3.1 meters.

Nope, you're wrong! I can feel the motor shaft resisting the rotation, from the weight of the stator. It's directly driven all right!

Ben they are mag driven. I've had mine apart twice. It's two magnets making up the coupling. But the johnson maybe different, that might explain the increased proformance.

Edit: The motor looks bigger in the pic as well. And are those vents just behind the pump housing?

There's a vent behind the housing, yes.

Taking it apart, I can only see the impeller, and it leaves almost no room for magnets, unless they're really small, or inside the motor housing. It makes sense though. Maybe I'll try taking it apart further.

This pump IS direct drive but it's not built like most any other pump you've seen. The impeller is part of the stator or moving part of the motor. The stator is just some permanant magnets. Think of it this way, its built just like a brushless DC fan only it's impeller is moving water not air.

The magnet coupler is inside the motor housing on the jabsco. If you do take it that far apart be careful of the brushes. (and pics would be cool)

i do really like it so far. Weight wise and size wise if it really has the specs they say it has.

I received the one I ordered today too. Very compact! I wish I could put it through its paces, but I'm still working on my WB. I'd like to see how it compares to my CSL Velocity T-3, a pump that's easily 4 times the size.

I just hope it can last on continuous duty! If heat is a problem, maybe a few small heatsinks would help it. Might be tough to get a good TIM joint on that round body.
