eermm , on the battery effect issue.... it does not take place when the two metals are in direct contact, think about it for a moment.... (but not to hard... OK ) for the battery effect to be able to damage either of the two metals, there needs to be a current to flow from the one, to the other, through the electrolyte. Now what do we know about electrical current, it always chooses the path of least resistance. It also needs a potential difference to exist between the two points of travel.
Ok so now how is current going to be able to flow from the one plate, through the liquid, to the other, in order to have what is called "the battery effect" oh by the way I've been mixing metals for longer than Water-cooling pc's have been in existence.... heck Ive been doing it even before there was such a thing as a PC to be bought in a shop. In the HOT-ROD building arena, what we normally do to prevent this, is to electrically connect the Radiator, often copper cored, to the engine block, (Aluminum and Cast-iron in most cases) and in doing so we got rid of that exact same annoying phenomenon.

I agree. Copper wire has a DEFFINATE lower electrical resistance. Any current flowing would be flowing thru the wire itself, not the water.
The corrosion/oxidation will STILL be there, but it will now move to the wire connections if you use Copper wire connected to Aluminum (read up on proper Al/Cu junctioning in house wiring, etc..). With the very low potetial between the pieces of metal in the system, this shouldn't be a real problem. Now if you use standard crimp on ring terminals(usually plated), screws with the wire between washers, etc... on the ends of the copper wire, and attach these to the different metal pieces, then this would also reduce the corrosion drastically. This was probably the case in #Rotor's cars, I'm assuming he used some kind of terminals on the ends of the wires. |

Simply amazing work.
and to anyone who doesnt think these blocks are worth 120 bucks ...youre a fool. Copper is very tricky to mill and it takes a long time ,even with CNC.And not to mention the cost of the tools that are needed to mill that insanely gummy metal we all call copper to the specifications and dimensions that he has done in his block. I would rather mill hardened steel with a toothpick any day, than to mill a peice of unforgiving copper with a solid carbide end mill! He's done a spectacular job in designing and building these things. One can only wish that commercial manufacturers put the time and effort that this guy has put into his creation. It's so beautiful ,I wouldnt even want to use it if I purchased one. Id put it in a display case on my mantle. Great F*** in job man!! Youre an inspiration to us all |

Just my penny's worth (which, by the way, neatly puts this thread back at the top of the forum ): I've ordered two blocks, for my dual Athlon MP system. I agree with LiquidRulez: they are almost too beautiful to install, so I am now forced (totally unintentionally, of course ) to put a plexi window in my case... They are going to be installed on a red PCB (MSI K7D Master-L) in a black Lian-Li case. I just can't wait.
Somewhere else in this forum Technonut has compared this block with his Spir@l, and has noted better flow and temps from this block! Yessirree, this block appears to beat a Spir@l!

Still no performance stats on one of these? I'd pay the cash for one if I knew that they actually worked at least as well as a maze block.
Performance stats?? Ice

Sorry no stats yet Icelord; as far as I'm aware a review is being arranged.
To give you a decent impression of performance though, I refer you to :this thread: on the Procooling forums. I have bought 2, for my dual Athlon rig. Post Tracker tells me they have arrived in the UK today, so I should have them by next week. Can't wait!

...and I'll refer ya'll to this thread for an explanation on how this lexan top is actually better than anything else we've encountered so far, and wouldn't be an issue, if you go that route.
Maybe our popular manufacturers should read this... |

I think he refers to the even spacing of the mounting screws as well, resulting in even pressure/strain and no flexing. In any case, these are damn good blocks...

Anyone who thinks they are not worth the $120,-- asking price should hang their head in the shame of ignorance... they are the daddies. (I know, I know, "looks is nothing without performance". Well, just follow the above thread. Go on then. I know you want to).

@ Bigben2k: You're welcome.
@ Puzzdre: My digicam is in repairs, unfortunately (dead pixel on the CCD), but I intend to mount them on a red MSI K7D Master-L. When I got the cam back, you'll get the pics!

@ nexxo: good, that will give me enough time to buy some more drool sucking sponges...maybe to make a necklace...
Those blocks really look gorgeous on the pics...and to have two of them in real....wait, where's that last sponge I had....

@ mo: Paul is making some more as we speak, but he has to make them in his spare time on his machines at work, so production is a bit irregular. Just e-mail him and tell him you want some however, and he'll give you an Estimated Time of Arrival, so to speak.
@ Puzzdre: I stroke them every night before I go to bed... I may give them names. I may have pics next week.

OK, as promised, here are the pics...
If they appear as the dreaded red X's, then hit Reply and the Back arrow on the browser; for some reason that seems to work... weird, no? At some point I will post some more pics of the entire project, but I think I'll need to find another host... EDIT: problem fixed. You should be able to see the pics normally now.
