Default How thick should (the base of) a WB be?

Hi reader,

I am constructing a complete home build computer, so a 100% self made custom case and a custom cooling. The watercooling parts I also want to make myself. I have a friend who works for a large company with acces to CNC's and other neat stuff.

My question is what dimensions a block for a CPU, a GPU and chipsets (North- and Southbridge) should have? How thick should the base plate be?
And where do I get those damn rings?

Thnx

In short, the dimensions can vary, but it's preferable to at least, make sure that the block covers the AMD pads, or in the latest models, the whole IHS. 2" wide ought to do it. As length, 2 1/2 to 3 inches sgould give you enough room to integrate a mounting system.

As for baseplate thickness, you can start with a 1/4" thick plate, at least, and cut it down to what your design dictates.
