Can you guys recomend a upgrade for my radiator.

Hey guys, i have been watercooling for many many years but i have been recycling old parts that i bought 7 years ago. I am currently using a Black ice extreme radiator its a single 120mm fan radiator . The Pump is a Eheim 1048, and my waterblock as strange as it sounds is a Maze 3 Lucent top. I dont feal my waterblock needs a upgrade because the way i have it mounted puts tons of pressure on the cpu, and its a high flow block and when temps are cool in the house my temps are for the most part are about the same as newer blocks when comparing the same cpu's.

The problem i am having atm is keeping temps down in the summer. Temps obviously have gone up about 6-10c, but i feal it can be lower. The radiator to the touch during load gets pretty warm it feals alot warmer then body heat for certain, and i can feal the heat comming from the fans blowing it out. I really dont think this tiny radiator is able to keep up when the ambiant temps get warmer, even the tubing gets warm.



Anyway to get to the point i need some recomendations on a radiator. Based off reading the sticky on pumps my eheim 1048 probably doesnt need upgrading, i was thinking about the MCP655 from swifttech but that would probably be a waste of money based off the sticky.

I was looking at these.. radiators. Can you guys also recomend some good fans? Im not into noisy 120mm fans i have one in my case and if it werent for a fan control it would be to noisy

Hey there,
If you want to stick with single 120mm radiators, the best is going to be the feser company. They tend to be more 'thick' than others and thus have a little more surface area.

If you want to go with a QUIET rad, you really can not beat the swiftech QP series.

Remember, the amount of heat you can dissipate is directly related to the amount of surface area your radiator has. Think about it this way. Those new aircoolers cool so well because they are literally larger than the radiator you have.

If you want to maintain QUIET performance, I would recommend a Swiftech QP 240 rad(2x120mm fans).

You can find them on newegg or performance-pcs. Great fans. I recently replaced every fan in both of my computers with these.

quick question... iirc, BI GTX radiators are good to use with high cfm fans, no?

why not first try with just a stronger fan and see if it gets better performance before you go and overhaul your entire loop...

the Fesers/XSPC RX's/Thermochills are pretty much the same class of radiators that has high flow rate and works well with slow-medium fans... i don't think thta going from a HWLabs to a Feser is really a step up... maybe a side step imo...

Give me a list of some fans you had in mind and I can give you my thoughts on them. Of the 2 radiators you listed, I would go with the cheaper one. You really aren't going to notice much of a different between the two.

On the other hand, the $140 one is a complete kit and comes with fans.
