Got my new rad (thanks terabyte)
Autozone part # 398219:
$17.99 and no tax in DE. This will actually fit better in the top rear of my PC70 than the big momma because I can hax0r up a much thinner shroud for the fans I think. As an aside, the guy brought me the wrong heatercore at first (398216), and it appeared to be a little shorter than the big momma and with copper fins instead of aluminum. Might be a nice choice for someone looking for a smaller rad...

could somebody find out which car that rad is from. We dont have an Autozone here in Denmark, so it would be a bit easier for me to find it, if I knew what car it was from.
Thank you. |

1975 Caprice will pull up with that heatercore. There were parts numbers for several other parts stores on the box though if you prefer:
Napa 3026 4 seasons: 94530 everco: 2271 stant:90403 Murray: 9101 This one was made by GDI (Go/Dan Industries) The only thing I dislike is that one tube is 5/8" and the other 3/4". A minor inconvenience though really...

SO I take it tommarow your going to Home Depot to get you JB Weld and your brass hose barbs.
Quick note you can get 5 MIN JB Weld @ Autozone too, however I'd rather the SLOOOW drying stuff. Hope you enjoy it I'm going to some some work on my case tommarow.... the saga continues. I think all us [H] guys are here is because we need our forum fix and the [H] servers are crapping out all the time. I'm going to email Kyle and see if he needs any donations or bandwidth or something. |

I already have JB Weld around the house because it comes in handy all the time. As for fittings, I have some 3/4" to 1/2" brass fittings that I think will let me just have female threads on the end of both tubes. I figure that is a little more versatile than the 1/2" barbs (in case I decide to mess with 3/4" tubing or something crazy like that).

Well not necessarily to just a sucker. Unless you have a lotta space these bigger heatercores would be a challenge. I can fit the DTek and shroud into the lower front of my SX1030 by pulling out the bottom drive cage but no way that the new rad would fit like that.
I wonder how much difference that the larger heatercore will make really. I mean the smaller heatercore is keeping water temps low already...

Hey,
Finally got my rad from autozone as well! I have been hunting for a rad the size of the leviathian but not as wide - I only have about 5 3/4 of space. The infamous caprice rad strikes again - however I got the 1990 caprice with a/c autozone #399078 $18.99 and it measures 10 1/2 x 5 5/8 x 2. Newbiew warning (I'm a wc newbie myself) - The rad is really 12" High - the measurements listed at heater4u are just the fins cooling surface. Now time to get some jb weld and get going. Thanks for your help forum members. GareJax |

I check that radiator out on Heatercore4u and it looks HUGE!! Should be able to handle a BIG heatload with some nice and lower CFM fans. I would put 2 Papst 120mm's on that thing. You'll probably get great temps with minimal noise.

decodediesel,
where can you buy pabst fans? I was going to use two panaflows HA1's and run them with a LM317 voltage regulator I built. GaretJax |

that will probably work just fine. You can find Papst here http://www.so-trickcomputers.com/Mer...tegory_Code=F1
They are only rated for about 60 cfm, but are damn near silent, and have a higher static pressure than a Panaflow L1A so they'll be better for a Heatercore. Though if you already have the regulator built, and are looking for good/top performance then a H1A is just what the doctor ordered

Ouch $21 for the Papst?
Man but I really want a quite fan. Incase any one needs good fans for a cheap price. You can get Pnaflo H1A's for $6.5- with the grill from Allelectronics.com Panaflo H1A |

I might shell out the coin and pick up 2 of these things...I don't know. I really want Papst fans in there cause I know it'll be quiet, but for $42 it's pretty steep...

You think a H1A running at 5-7 volts will be that much louder then the Papst?

No probably not, but it won't have the static pressure of a Papst at 12v, so I dunno how well it will be able to pull air through the fins on my heatercore.
