1000 have been odd on getting them up and running. Some require a 1000 img other will work with a 2200. And some times it doesn't work the first time. I quit trying to keep up with what works on them.

If the 1000 drive is totally dead, you may be able to use the 2200 to init the 1000. But the 2200 must be in a RAID 1 configuration to copy the OS to the new HD. If it doesn't work it will actually require a 1000 image file.

I need an image file to restore the snap to a working unit how? Run knoppix put snap1000.bin on hdd then put back snap 1000?

You said you have a 2200? Use the procedure in the wiki section to backup the 2200. Then copy the boot tracks to the 1000 and see if it works.

Yes I have 2200 and 1100 I am little confused do u mean put new hard drive on 2200 format then put back on 1000 i did still 1 system / 2 disks blinking. I have span1000 and 2000.bin shuld i use koppix put snap1000.bin?

Write IMG to new HD with DD will it work with hda1 win xp or must have win 98 installed before run knoppix?

It will not make any difference

Knoppix is a live cd


And as far as i remember, it will read NTFS

Save the image file on a cd along with the sup files. You may need it again, if for some reason you have to reload your 2200 or 1000 again.
