Default Help with dual core LGA775 waterblock suggestion

Hello,
Basically i'm looking for a waterblock that will perform best on a smithfield dual core intel cpu.

Pic:

What is the best performing block (except Cathar waterblock G4/5) on the market for that babe?

Few information about the configuration,
smithfield cpu has a die area of 213mm^2 as seen from the pic (is about 1x2cm) and it is fitted on the 775 socket horizontally (x-axis). As you see the motherboard (example pic bellow)

the die is in horizontal prosition in respect with the motherboard as shown at that pic. So, as you can imagine the core beeing that big and at that position, there are few waterblocks that can cool down that surface. I've had a look on few blocks, Danger - Den was originally proposed but it seems that its "focusing" area isn't big enough for Mr. Smith. So, we moved on and found either the D-TEK LRWW or Swiftech 6002. Question is that the LRWW is a top block but we don't know how it is mounted on the Smithie.

L35 Hydor and 120.2 rad will be used on that loop, any other suggestions welcome.

There are two problems,
1) the mounting holes are not shown clearly and i dont' know which set of mounting holes are further away from the other.
2) anyone who has pictures of the LRWW block installed on 775 PLEASE POST! Or any other block!

Thanks for your time,
Byron

are you handy with tools?
do you have a dremel? drill? hacksaw?
it's fairly easily to make your own mounting kit
harder to make them pretty...

The LGA775 standard heatsink is mounted through 4 holes, as are clearly seen on the pic of the motherboard.

As has been suggested, you can make your own mounting plate.

the LRWW has universal mounting plate... so the plate is not the problem. The problem is either if the LRWW fins sits in parallel with Smithfield core

It looks like you'd be able to mount it either way, no?

Yeah, you'll want the fins to run parallel with the length of the core; the channel area is ~15mm wide (as I remember, could be wrong), on the White Water block.

thank you, i couldn't be arsed to disassemble mine to measure the channel width :P
Yes, Smithfield width is about 10mm , so 15mm should be sufficient... the fins length of LRWW seem long enough for the Smith though... so that would be one of the most suitable blocks.

I've also seen silverproop and polarflo, but i dunno which one will perform better in this case in comparison with LRWW. Any ideas? Also, how those two are mounted on the 775 socket?

Cheers.

Yeah, the fins are at least 30 mm long (don't remember exact length), on the LRWW.

The LRWW will outperform both the SilverProp and Polarflo.

I thought you already knew the orientation of the core, when the processor is mounted?

i know the orientation of the core, as i said it is in parallel with the x-axis of the mobo. The LRWW is the one i dont' know how it is mounted on the socket

hmm - a quick google suggests that the 775's holes are a perfect square - and therefore the direction it is mounted is up to you (and clearance of other components etc.)

I reviewed our sticky thread, and the mounting holes are indeed perfectly square around the socket; you're all set, to mount the block in any orientation you wish.
