Default fix the problems with vinyl!

well.. just one of the problems... the KINKING!!

http://www.thesteele.net/nokink/tightbend.html

http://www.thesteele.net/highfsb/highfsb.html

that guy took the vinyl and heated it up to put the bends in it. this makes it look damn clean, and keeps the kinking problem out.

not claiming this is a solve all for vinyl... but it make vinyl more of a viable sollution for the budget.

(cant wait for my tygon...)

yeah, I've done that before too. It is damned hard to get it to bend right, but not burn it.

"kinkey" (no pun intended) idea.... use boiling water instead of an open flame to heat the tubing. It might work similar to how a mouthpiece for contact sports is formed... heat and bend, then cool. Keep me posted if it works.

im sure there are certain heat guns... or you could just hold it farther from the flame and wait a little longer for it to start melting.

lol, you dont want it to melt, you just want it to get soft and plyable.

making it pliable IS melting it.. anytime you take a solid and make it more of a liquid your melting it.... i guess i mean that you melt it to a very pliable state... but still in tube form

With the prohibative cost of tygon in the UK, this is a very real alternative. I think a heat gun would be less likely to burn and a lot more controlable.

hey tygon is a great option and all... so is silicone.. but you have to admit that the super cheap price of vinyl makes it a decent option. and now the fact that kinking is alot easier to get rid of... it makes vinyl an even better option.

ive run mostly vinyl, i have 20 ft of silicone that is unused, and i have tygon on order =)

Fumes given off by PVC while it's burning (and possibly while it's melting) are deadly. I wouldn't do this if I were you.

If you buy the vinyl with a thick enough skin it can bend fine without kinking. I just got some 3/8"ID - 9/16"OD for $0.35/ft.
