1/4 cold plate and 80watt pelt?
will that loose efficiency or is that good? dont bother ask what im using it for... im just playing with random stuff...

well, to give you an idea how things work. you are cooling a larger heat mass if you have a larger cold plate. this can be your friend or your enemy. When I was running my tualatin with pelts I had lower valleys in the temps with a thin cold plate, but the temps were less stable. When I moved to a thicker cold plate the temps were slightly higher than before but significantly more stable.

i know a little chunk of info and all, but im just using 1/4 just cuz i have it, or i was just gonna use 1/4 till the tap broke off in my waterblock... what can i do now???

1/4" is fine. I use 1/4" coldplates with 30-40mm pelts and 9/16" thick for 48mm+ pelts.
