it isn't ddr400, it's ddr ram running at 200 x 2. it isn't ddr400 or pc3200 because it isn't a jedec spec.
also it isn't a valid review because they didn't even reach 200mhz. /me turns and fondles his pc-2700 cas2 crucial

Ok ok, so it sounded like fun. Would be fun to play with though. I am working on building a new system, anybody got any suggestions on good memory?? Will be running on Soyo Dragon plus mobo with a xp2100+. I don't necessarily care about how fast it is but fast ns times and high reliability are a must...sorry for stupid ??'s but i haven't built anything for over a year and am lacking some good answers. What about the new DDR pieces from OCZ?
Read up on them and they have PC3200 256MB units for pretty good prices to boot. Did a bit more research and found that several retailers are selling this stuff. They also have a lifetime warrenty on all the memory pieces as well as different colored RAM sinks (if that tickles your fancy http://www.ocztech.com They also have 512MB sticks also BUT they only go up to PC3000 Still................

Erm, not to be rude but thats what most of us do anyway, as in buy some ram, overclock it and run it as fast as we can. Also until recently most people making ddr333 were doing the same thing, and most people doing ddr3000 again doing the same. There is no actual difference between any of these rams, they are all mass manufactured and it just happens that out of the modules they make some run faster than others, all companies just test the speed they can run at and sell the stuff that runs faster for a little more with a promise that it will run at that rated speed. Also remember the jedec spec, or lack of one, means nothign as ddr333 wasn't jedec spec when people first started to sell it.
If you have had a bad experience with OCZ then say so. I'm not defending them, I've heard a lot of bad stuff about them. Most of it relating to getting stuff sent direct from their shop being damaged or not arriving when it should. I haven't heard of any probs when getting it through other retailers though. Also in reviews it semms to easily run at 200mHz, with top speed i've seen at 217Mhz. samsung/kingmax/winbond seem to be best overclockers as of now but winbond is almost impossible to get, kingmax or samsung do have some of the chips but almost immpossible to get. |

I forgot to mention that of all the companies around OCZ were the first to start selling true ddr333, the "true" part of it means, first to be being sold while under jedec spec, nothing changes when making true dd333/400 whatever. It just means it has there approval, and jedec approval counts for nothing as VIA and all the major ram companies are producing ddr 400 even though jedec has up to date said they will not give it jedec approbal. So every company that is important is ignoring jedec(which is run by people who want to control the release of products as they are involved in manufacturing products, many from companies who want to skip ddr400 and go to ddr2) so in other words they are a useless stam pof approval with their own agenda who all the major players are ignoring.
OCZ ddr is identical to everybody else's, ok quality varies from compay to company but their method of manufacture is identical to samsung/corsair/crucial(inparticular). Crucial are identical as they buy their chips in aswell. |

Yep, just found out that the chips on the ddr333 OCZ is handpicked 6ns SAMSUNG. So they are preety much the best around, a couple of tests in past week has the newest samsung chips that go up to 224Mhz, yeah they must be crap.

Also, although most ddr333 is able to run at cas 2 speed, most are only rated for cas2, and the OCZ pc3000 is the only 366Mhz ram to run at cas 2.
