Default Sound Card Recommendations

I plan on getting a new sound card soon and I want one that has a good hardware wavetable synthesizer. I have heard that Yamaha is the best for this. I was wondering if there is a sound card that will be able to play MIDI music in wavetable while in DOS or Linux without needing some kind of driver (fully hardware). This is the card that I am currently looking at:
