Default Did a nice thing for myself this summer.

Last summer I did some boring stuff (laying down cobblestones in the garden for the mrs.). This year I decided to build a PCcase and make a watercooled rig for myself. While this did nothing for the relationship it was a lot of fun...

Wow, pretty nice

Did you start off with an ATX case and just cut the hell out of it, or did you build the entire thing from scratch? Love the steel framework look btw - reminds me of a fishtank (kinda appropriate with the watercooling)

You are right...it was an ATX-case which I cut the living crap out of. It was an Aopen midithingy. I kept the bottom and mobotray, the rest had to go. Not before I had welded on the steel framework though. The end result is rather heavy, but as I dont move it about much it is not much of a problem. I chose 12 mm steelbars as it is a forgiving material for "green" welders.

Thanks...if I were do it again I would probably build it even bigger.
Probably fulltowerheight so I could have more "isolated" compartments for different equipment-categories.

Man.. and I was just thinking about making a case VERY similar to that... I'm not even done modding my current case and I'm already thinking about making a new one...

Nice job.
