Default Component Cooling

I am going to start work on a nice little cooling pad for a chipset. I have purchased the Copper tubing, and the brass plate. I should have a few designs built for pictures on here in a few days.

Anyone else have any Ideas on this??

This will take up a PCI slot but we need to make a active peltier for a video card. i know how hot those suckers get and they need one.

hmm using a pelt on a video card... hmmm

Not sure if it is always needed, (I know sometimes it is .. hmmm..

My experiment that I am going to be trying will consist of using just a micro cooler, and the radiator rig setup that I have right now. In theroy it should work great for pulling the heat away. I am big into the "room temp" cooling practices on devices and cards. Otherwise you have to deal with condensation, and thats not a fun thing to deal with.

Post any other ideas or thougts you have on this here!

thanks!

Another thought : also by using a slimmer cooler you can use the other PCI slots. ... With a Pelt, and a slim liquid cooler you could possibly use the other PCI slot also.

no what are you talking about?

Joe, I am gonna copy your idea just to let you know and all.

a peltier could be used, but the watercooling should take you 80% as far as the watercooling + peltier does.

I was thinking about making a plate that touches the memory chips as well. And using 1mm copper for the plate to get good heat transfer.

I'll prolyl be trying this next month, so I've got a while, I'll keep in touch.

Cool!!! sounds great!

Take a look back here in a few days, I will have my Tyan built and using one (Maybe more) micro coolers in it to cool the Chipset and possible SCSI controler or Video card.

And just as some bait... I am talking with a company that will possibly make a small 1/4" deep, 1 1/4" square copper cooler with 1/8" fittings. It may work better then anything I could make. Once I get done discussing the design with the company I will post who it is.

I am also checking with a local metal shop to see what they can do for me. Cause it is a very good thing to be able to get stuff made localy

Best of luck and take pic's of it! I would love to post em here for you.

Overclockers hideout makes video cooler that will work just fine for cooling the BX chipset and he will make it with 90 degree bends (inlet and outlet) if you need that...i believe he quoted me 29.99 but could be wrong...

I'm sorry, but as the moderator of this forum, if you speak such obscenities again, I'm going to have to spank you.
