Default Threads on NV-68 hold down.

Hello,

This seems to be a question no one has been able to answer so far so I will let you guys have a go at it. Do you know what thread the rods holding down the DD NV-68 block has?

I'm trying to get hold of some shorter screws to replace them with to unblock the PCI slot in a shuttle cube. I have to order the screws online since they aren't metric but I have no idea what to ask for...

if you just order threaded rods that come with the nuts you need this shouldn't be an issue... but if you must know, i suggest you send an email to DD and ask the thread size.

Well I already have the stock kit and I want to get rid of it as you can see by the issue here with the rods protruding over the PCI slot:

Thanks but isn't 4-40 used for HDD screws? The ones in the NV-68 seems smaller.

Guess I will have to take a second look.

HDD screws are M3 I think.

M3 is slightly bigger than 4-40 which are unfortunately is a bit of a problem to source in the UK.

Best places (not the cheapest, but fastest) are RC car stores.
www.apexmodels.co.uk will sell you some.
The "associated" range of cars use this thread size all over (shock absorber mounting bolts) are quite long. Short ones are all over the car.

CDROM screws are M3, HDD screws are 4-40.

I just checked the WB and it is indeed the same thread as HDD screws so 4-40 is the final answer.

In the UK you can get 4-40 thread from RS.
