Snap Server 2000 questions!
I just bought a snap server 2000 (meridian)
I had 2 issues i was hoping to hanve solved here. 1. could someone send me the v 4.0 OS. The one on the adaptec site is only an upgrade and will not work with my OS (3.4.803). I would really appreciate it. you can send it to me at sgossard34@comcast.net. if the file is too big we can make arrangements. 2. why wont the ftp service prompt me for a username/password when i remove the anonymous access. i just error out. thanks for any help sgossard34 snap server info: 2000 series OS=3.4.803 (US) Hardware=1.1.0 BIOS=1.2.180 |

Re: Snap Server 2000 questions!
I will send you the PDF user manual. It may help explain it. For ftp to work properly there are several things that need to be set.
I have one of the same vintage. I don't recommened v 4 for it. stick with v3.4.805 if you want large disk. |

Re: Snap Server 2000 questions!
thanks David I appreciate the help you have provided me.
I got a support contract with Adaptec so let me know if you need any files or anything from them. I plan on only using the 3.4.805 OS Thanks! |

Re: Snap Server 2000 questions!
Thats nice to know. Ask them when are they going to post all of the older files that SnapAppliance had for these units. The only one the post/list is v4.0.860 patch. It would be nice to see if they have a BIOS update for your unit (1.2.180) to v2+.
I have a 1100 that the sys & disk led blink in unision and then the disk blinks twice. I and other users would sure like to know how to clear it. I think it is looking for IP address? All resets of all kind do not work. On the 2000 they say the OS updates can not be reversed. Would be nice if there is a way to clear the flashram so they could. I asked them and they said the only way to get the older OS's is to buy a support contract from them :/ I can ask about the led issue next time i call them. I will also inquire about the BIOS version and the possiblity of revesing an OS. They were not to helpful in the few questions i asked them even after getting the support contract. The FTP problem was simply responded with " upgrade to the latest OS." I told them people have reported problems with it on this snap server and I did not want to upgrade and be stuck and they said this was the only way. So you can imagine the future help will be very limited. thanks, sgossard34 |

Adaptec Support for SnapAppliance is NULL I hope you get your money worth. SnapAppliance had FREE Support. The first release of v4.0.830 will run on the older units. It seam to make the units run a little slower. The patch has caused big trouble for sn 27k and less. Last edited by blue68f100; 02-09-2006 at 07:32 PM. |

Re: Snap Server 2000 questions!
I also just bought a 2000 (meridian) at auction, but only have
Software Hardware Serial# BIOS 2.0.279 2.0.0 36086 2.0.252 I cannot find any older OS other then the 4.0 on the site and that is an upgrqade. Does anyone have the version prior to 4.0? I put in some slightly larger drives, but it does not seem to see them . I figured i'd try an os upgrade. |

Re: Snap Server 2000 questions!
I have noproblem with that, but the vesion on the snap site won;t work for me. Maybe because it's a patch and not the full OS. Where can I get the full os? Also it seems the web gui does not see any of the drives. The unit came with 2 x 16GB drives. They are jumpered for DS. I tried all the other settings and the only one that seems to allow the unit to boot properly is DS.
Thanks Steve Last edited by gawganch; 02-10-2006 at 10:30 PM. |

Re: Snap Server 2000 questions!
The 2000 drives are set as Master/Slave, where the front one is master (end of cable). Look at the log and see what it is reporting.
