my new AMD waterblock
Saturday, 2 am pacific time, I just put up the first 2 pages of my new block. There are several more pages to come, but it is too late right now, I need some sleep.
The block is not installed yet either. Maybe later today or tomorrow after the leak testing is done. http://www.wsu.edu:8080/~i6735189/cpu/amd/AMD1.htm Saturday afternoon update. I have 5 pages up, all about the block construction. Results page in the next days. Last edited by N8; 06-28-2003 at 05:14 PM. |

Very nice. I like how you kept it compact. That's one thing I dislike about #Rotors is there is way to much over kill in the drilling process (although benificial for TEC's I would assume). You kept it pretty tight and were it needed to be. That should work very well.

yip, very nice...
TEC's is the big reason yes, being able to fit large-ass fittings in close proximity to another is another reason, as well as helping the block a little bit in regards to flow-rate, per example. He made more or less what I made here.... I'm running 9 rows as to his 7, reason being that I do not need an O-ring. this is pushing it a bit though

wow dude, that looks very nice, I made a similar one a while back, havent gotten around to testing it because Im testing other waterblocks. Mine looks nothing like yours(prettyness) on the inside, I used a 7/64ths drill bit .125" apart and connected the channels diagonally and criss cross because the flow was really low.
the total size of it is also 1.5x1.5" 5/16" thick. anodized aluminum top, red with black barbs. I gotta give it a shot after Im done testing these blocks.. Jon |

I know I am blowing the dust off an old post here, but unfortuniatly when it was posted I was in the middle of sustained combat ops and didn't have anything in the way of internet access.
I must say, N8 that is an very impressive waterblock, and saying it was conceptualized, designed, and created in one week! My hat is off to you sir. I find myself wishing I had access to some type of mill and drill press when I get home but sadly I do not. Odds are I will not be able to convince my wife to let me spend bucu cash on something like that either. The feeling of self accomplishment that must come with pulling something like this off must be very nice. I do really like the exterior design of this block though perhaps with a thinner Cu plate, some type of center plexi nozzle plate, and with some tweaking to the internals it is just what I am looking for. Still the simplicity and effectivness of the internals is to be admired. I remember you mentioning your job requires you to create very flat surfaces for some type of impact testing, sounds cool, and I must say that your hand lapping skills are without reproach. Alright I'll shut up, nice job N8 you made my day with this read.
