Ive ordered my cube case featured in black ice project and planning on modding it, wanted to know what is a good n00b friendly water cooling system, I ve never water cooled before and kinda scared it ll leak, I also wanted to know how u would go about making the colors glow in the dark. I ve seen it done where its like green etc. thanks

Hi Brando, and welcome to ProCooling.

A good starting place would be:

This site has a good selection. The TC-4 poly toped block is a good one. They have heater core rads with shrouds that will save you money compared to the "made for watercooling rads" and perform better. The Eheim 1250 is a good pump to go with the core rad & TC-4 block.

Useing hose clamps on all connections will offer peace of mind.

That glow you like is caused by UV dye that can be ordered at D-tek in several colors.

In the liquid and phase forum here is a search engine just for heater cores if you'd like to save money by making your own shroud. Just type in the size of core you have room for and it will give options.

And again welcome to ProCooling

Dont really like those Xaser, they exagerated on the looks. But thats a personal opinion.

The TT water kit however, performs as good as decent air cooler, or worse. But its dead silent, and easy to install.

If i were you, i'd get that cube server case (god knows i want one, but i cant get one in this country , and ordering one abroad costs way too much). And then a Heatercore , a +/- 1000 l/h pump (or more), some tygon tubes, a white water block, and a danger den gpu and chipset block. The reservoir is really up to you.

If you want a good kit, try the innovatek kit with the mono-innovaradi, and the 1048 eheim. They're pretty good, but a bit pricey.

I went with danger den myself.

I checked out that sysfx link. That has some really nice stuff. But how does it perform. I would be great for cases with good looks. Mine right now looks like ass, and is really high performance.

Old thread, I know, but I always regarded the Thermaltake approach to watercooling as a noise to performance balancing act. I never expected the kit to perform as well as the best parts on the market in an optimal configuration.

Less fans, less noise, adequate cooling, but not the best. If the reduction in noise significant enough to make that watercooling kit worthwhile if someone were to game on their machine in that rig for hours on end? That is the real question.

I personally don't watercool for maximum overclocking ability, I do it because a million and 1 fans in a case gets to be a bit ridiculous, and every opportunity to get rid of one is an opportunity I'll jump on. I was beginning to think that fans are just played out, when water is so much more efficient as a cooling solution. I could give a rats ass about an already stable system running cooler, but not quieter.

My system is custom built, and I only have 1 fan in the system , which is in front of my shrouded rad to pull air out of my case (not counting my video card & PSU). It's a single 120mm fan that runs at about 60% max power, and does the job. I don't know how hot my case gets inside, and don't care since it is always stable.

Just my 2 cents,

-Ice-
