well it seems that my amd mounting skills are a little rusty.
this morning i have tested both blocks again and first managed to lower the cup block temp by 1C but also the maze 3 by 3C making the cup block only 2C lower. this brings it close to the temp differances i had on the p4. |

I recon there's too much wall thickness between the cups. The flat bottom is the only spot you'll get any impingment and maybe a bit at the bottom of the \ / shape. The walls will 'suck up' heat and raise the temp/delta. I think idealy you want a 0.25mm wall in the same pattern without the sloped walls...
