Default Dynatron BM-P / Blowers Experiment

I talked about doing this in the general forum a while back. The idea was to try mounting a blower(s) to a high density thin fin hs to see if better results than a delta screamer could be acheived. The theory being that blowers are more suited to the high static pressures required for these types of hs. UPS delivered the blowers this afternoon and I've run the tests with some interesting results. I've got a bunch of (lousy) pics and a whiteboard full of temp recordings to put together, but 6 hrs is enough for one day, so you'll have to wait till tomorrow for the results. In short, the blowers weren't as powerful as advertised (Read: 42 cfm my a$$) so they couldn't compete with the delta, but 4 C higher while much quieter using a very less than optimal mounting is, imo, justification for further testing.

is that one blower on each set of fins? How many do you have? would 3 of them fit?

That was with 2 blowers, each centered over the sets of fins. The blowers are 20 mm thick, so yes you could get 3 on there - but I only have 2. You'd have to make a little duct for the middle one to sit higher so it could get air, and they were already near the side of my case.

how about mounting a fan on the top and a blower on the side, or some other hydrid experiments using both blowers and fans

Holy Crap Wonder what kind of nasty EMI that dude gets with his monitor. I am thinking of setting up some type of blower system on an old Alpha PAL6035 or PEP66 just for fun. Good experiment, and those really aren't bad results. How quiet is you rig with those 2 blowers? I bet it's worlds better than the Delta.

That fan would be so bad if you put in it the back of the case. You would need like another 7inches of cleareance in the back but at least you wouldn't see it.
