Default Is this the right copper for a waterblock?

Its been a long time since I posted here

I have an Asus 3870 x2 video card and not having much luck finding a waterblock for it. so i thought I would build my own.

Looking at the price at onlinemetals.com for 16 gauge 12x12 sheet it costs $44.37
link
price for it at ottofrei.com costs $26.35
link
shipping is going to kill me either way but was wondering if the sheet from ottofrei is the right type of copper I need.

Thanks.

Both of those are copper "sheet" which is to thin for a waterblock (0.064" and 0.051").

If the copper is to thin it won't be able to transfer enough heat to the tubes.

You need copper "plate" about 4mm (0.157") or 1/8" (0.125").

People prefer the oxygen free copper, but for your purposes I don't think it will matter.

I imagine you want to do something like the attached.
Use sliver solder as it will conduct heat better than lead/tin solder.

Wouldn't bar stock be better? I'd recomend 1/8" (.125) or 1/4" (.25) for the base. You could probably find that in a 2x12 bar.

I enderd up ordering COPPER SHEET C110 (0.064" ) 12.00 Inches X 12.00 Inches
from www.metalsupermarkets.com since they are canadian.

here is a picture of the other waterblocks i made

left is the Northbridge/southbridge
right is the mosfet
that is from 18Guage copper plante and I order 16 guage

they do a much better job then strainght air cooling

I'd worry about bending... I'm sure they are better than air cooling, but could probably be improved greatly, especially for a GPU. Such thin metal must bend easily when mounting and warp under the heat of your torch, right?

well the thinner gauge copper i didn't have that problem at all.
and this is a bit thicker so i think it won't be a problem at all.
won't know till i get the copper, hopefully get it next week.
