Nope. You just switch multipliers range. From 5x - 12.5x to 13x - 20x

That’s pre palomino heritage in most via boards, where poor bios programming cant handle the fifth multiplier bridge.

To go back to the lower range you need to paint it back, or there’s a mobo wire trick that allows quick changes without taking out the processor, but it needs to be cut first.

It's all the explanation on the link I posted, But it's not on an easy to understand language. Tomorrow I can look at it and post the key info.

Nahh, wtf I'll dig it now....

Here it is:

"Or connect a single wire from Socket A pin AJ27 to a 100 ohm resistor screw grounded to external case,"

So that is, with this mobo mod U could use the full multiplier range.

You can solder it to a mobo ground with a switch, for a more pro setup.

Note: this only enables the lower range on a higher rated chip, does nothing for a lower one as yours. So you still need to first cut the last L3.

Ok correct me if I'm wrong, I need to cut the last L3 bridge, this will enable me 13-20x mp's, but in addition, if I solder 100 ohm resistor to AJ27 pin in socket A I get the ful range of multipliers.

If that's true I'm doing this tomorrow
nicozeg thanks

Wow, just how much farther do you think this might allow you to take that wonder chip?

Going to double the rated speed?

Hey morphling1, Has anyone approached you yet about shipping some of those chips over to the states? (If your shop ever gets some more in stock ) Just wondering......

Yeah they did , but I can't believe that those steppings can't be found in US, I will look for gems when they get any new shipments though.

Blackeagle, 100% is practicaly imposible here, maybe on a very cold day I can get flash overclock just with CPUID shot of close to that, I'll try but first I must unlock those upper mp's because my memory was streched to limits in last run

Nono, that 100 ohm resistor does the same job as reconecting the bridge, so it's only needed in case U want to go back to the low range, or switch easily between both. there's no way to enable the full range at the same time if the mobo dont support it.

If I'd was you, I'll never go back to the low mp. At that fsb, without a /6 pci divider, I fear a short live to your HD. Sorry, but I had a traumatic data loss when running pci at 44 mhz.

weird that overclockers.com states that the J'z are no good. haven't seen em say that about any post week '50 proc. the bad ones seem to be JUICB instead of your JUIHB.

Please disregard my last post re:doubling the chips rate. While I am impressed with your O/C efforts (you've gone farther already that anyone in a long time has on water.) I don't want to see you damage/destroy your chip. And I regret making that comment and apoligize for having done so.

I get cought up in the moment at times.

A great chip and block combined for a amazing O/C ! !

Congrats. (We need a smilie of a toast, you deserve one.)

I just picked up a 1700+ from Newegg and received it today.

Codes:
AXDA1700UT3C 9268916261426
JIUCB 0251SPMW

I guess when I build the latest machine (tomorrow with midrange air cooling on an 8RDA+) I'll find out what this bad bastard can do combined with some XMS3200 DDR luvin.

I can't wait ... if all goes well, I may have to order another one and swap this one into my home machine ... heheheehehheheheheheheheheheh arrrg!

I don't know that I'll be able to get much sleep tonight ... I just confirmed that the rest of the kit is coming in tomorrow and I am horribly tempted to throw this thing on my KT4 I have sitting here and punch it through the roof ... it is almost too much temptation to bear. Don't know if I can make it ... must resist.

I can't exactly light the boss's new CPU on fire, can I?

Default Yep I can't believe but I'm air cooled

I couldn't wait until I was finnished, but my cutting tool became dull so I couldn continue but anyway here it is almost finished.

Still need to make shroud and finish cross cutts
I'm just testing that other 1700+ I'm currently at 2250 MHz 1,85V air cooled prime95 stable pretty good temps are 33°C with 20°C room in socket diode on my old 8kha+ I will try higher overclocking soon with higher voltage too, but I need to unlock that 13 and up multy because I can't realy get stable past 180 on this mobo.

I'm waiting for 8RDA+ rev2, so this air cooling will go on 8k3a.
Can someone notice I'm an Epox fan

Airspirit so how did it go, how did it go, I hope you didn't chickened out

And do you have the slk800 to compare results?

This design seems to require a fan with more backpressure than common, you could try it with a centrifugal blower.

HERE ARE THE RESULTS (thusfar):

-- JIUCB 0251 --

1700+ TbredB @ 2002, 1.725V
256MB Corsair XMS3200 C2 @ 167, 2-2-2-4, 2.9V
EPoX 8RDA+ w/ stock NB cooler
Vantec 6040 copper HSF, low spd fan

Since we all know that the stock cooler on the 8RDA+ severely limits overclockability and general stability, the numbers aren't final. I'll be putting a Vantec Copper Iceberg on the sucker tomorrow (as well as a SB heatsink), and I expect to get over 2200 Mhz on mediocre air cooling once it is installed (without a better cooler, the NForce2 boards are EXTREMELY unstable and will refuse to OC very well).

I'm loving it, and the person I built the workstation for (isn't it nice to be able to OC the f*ck out of other people's machines???), is loving it even more, and will probably cream their panties when I boost the speed and FSB some more (this RAM can handle 2-2-2-4 at over 190, tested). The JIU*B 0251 chips are winners, and they are now less than $50 at Newegg ... I have another one in the mail to go into another workstation, and that one should be built on Monday ... good times.

Well, Morphling... eh, thats pretty serious OC.
*Darned* good WB! Impressive!
One question: Do you have any cooling on memory or northbridge? 217 MHz (if I didn´t get it all wrong) FSB sounds quite aggresive to me.

$46.99 shipped today at newegg! http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...103-351&DEPA=1

I am buying one. Don't care if it OC's well or not, that is still a good price!
