hi all, ive been trying firefox... AND IT OWNZ!!

ive always liked tabs, but now i am addicted. i have not caught onto how to do mouse gestures yet but ill figure it out.

although tabs cut down on #of browser windows open, i still usually have a gazillion "windoze" of firefox open at once.

also i like the cool skins. right now my firefox is looking like a mac. i am using noia 2.0 theme. its great, no flaws at all.

the integrated google search and the popup blocker pretty much seal the deal 4 me.

I converted over to firefox almost a year ago. Since then I've converted tons of people over. I've yet to have anyone complain that firefox was worse than IE.

i use firefox as primary, but i still have to use IE from time to time. it seems with newer versions of firefox, it can handle most of the pages out there, but i still have to check pages with IE. face it, everything on the net is built for IE (and most of the time exclusively, because a lot of web designers either don't care or are oblivious to checking browser compatibility).

i used opera a bit here and there, and it is nice (don't know if they have it fixed or not but it used to have a horrible time with animated gifs - played them super slow, and was annoying). but i just never got into it really.

probably what i really like about mozilla though is its more standards-oriented html handling, the security, and the plugin support (like the very handy "view page in IE" plugin). IE really isn't that horrible - aside from some security issues it's basically just as good as everything else (aside from its occasional childlike html rendering). if mozilla was as popular as IE, i'd bet there would be as many exploits for firefox as there are for IE

i'll stand by mozilla as my personal preference, but if you work with the web a lot, you can't ignore IE at all. last stats i had it still had an EXTREMELY commanding lead on the net, and probably only loses that on hardcore techy sites like this.

oh yeah, the main thing that pisses me off with mozilla/IE, is that if you make something crappy (written crappy) that works in IE, it's pretty common that it doesn't work in mozilla. that's generally pretty easy to fix (most of the time). BUT, when you build for mozilla (which is about 95% compatibility with IE), and a page breaks that way in IE, it's usually 10 times more difficult to fix. several times i've had perfect code break in IE but work perfectly in mozilla, all html standards etc. sometimes IE just doesn't understand the pages

I'm and Opera kinda guy myself, but IE is handy for all the sites that are very IE only.

Opera 7.52 :-D I didn't vote because there isn't the option for Opera... Does nobody use opera except for a select few, I love it! I also figure the less users a particular browser has, the better chance of it staying more secure, and as long as opera costs money to take the ad off, it will probably have less users.

IE, because every time I read of how seldom one needs to switch back to IE so a page can be viewed, I picture myself starting up multiple browsers and spending the evening toggling between them... what a waste of time.

Or should I just accept distorted content because the viewer has neat features?

A question: Do alternate browsers like Firefox reliably display a warning when pages aren't processed correctly? If yes, I will try one.

OK, after the god know how may times I get spy wear I CANNOT get rid of wthout a reinstall on IE... such as every 10min it pops up with a porn search engine tool.

Firefox is the best alternative to IE out there hands down... have IE for emergancies and stuff (such as windows update) but for general web brousing and stuff Firefox beats it all.

I used to be a big opera fan but with is tendancy to display some sites "wrong" and a few other niggleing problems I quit it and returned to IE... been searchg for a good alternative ever since... Firefox seems to be it.

Sure you have the slow boot up time and there is a daleya opening the program but once you are inand brousing it is much faster.

I've used IE for years and had 3 or 4 real spyware infiltrations - this only because another user naively downloaded it. Besides that I just get cookies.

But I'm curious about alternate browsers. I wish some people who posted "Brand X, waaay better, hands down." would qualify or quantify their statements. State the advantages.

I've tried mozilla, slimbrowser, and opera (opera properly messed up my computer when i tried to uninstall it) and out of all of them i have to take my hat off to firefox, it's easy to use and the pluggins for it aren't half bad.

Here is a firefox tip:
You can search for links by just typing the keyword while Firefox is in focus. You can also search for non-link text by adding a "/" (no quotes) before typing. Neat!

Firefox at home and at work. I use IE when I run across a site that forces me. Once you get used to tabbed browsing you'll never go back. Also, the google search by default is great.

Did anyone try the "AdBlock" extension, for Mozilla? You can simply right-click on a banner to forever block it.

I'm trying it out now. This'll come in handy on OC and PCPER (the old AMDMB)
