Default Convert Athlon XP block to Opteron/AMD64

I'm thinking of buying a new AMD64-based system (probably a 754 pin cuz they're cheaper, but shouldn't matter) and would like to keep my current waterblock that I built (a WW clone). From this post (which I used building the block originally) the Athlon mounting holes are 66mm apart and my block is just a tad wider than that. From what I can tell from this PDF the Opteron/AMD64 holes are 88.9mm (in the apendix on page 49, 26.67+62.23). This means I should have plenty of space to add some sort of adapter around my block. Here's a picture of my block as it is now (click for more pictures):

My current idea is to build a plate or a frame of some sort that goes around my block and attatches to the new holes. Has anyone else done something like this and have any suggestions?
