Default Newbie Network Problem : NNP

if you have time heres my problem... i just bought a home network kit by netgear, i installed both cards in both my comps fine, no driver problems or anything... The hub is hooked up fine and everything in the network settings is fine... i have both C: drives in both comps set to share... what do i do now to see that both comps are visible in eachother's network neighborhood?

easiest thing to do is install NetBEUI as a protocol on both machines and you are done.

If you wanted to get in deeper TCP would be the way, but for fast and effective file share'n NetBeui works.

I dont haev time right now to get into any detail, but make sure your subnetmask and IP addy are in the same range, and also I wouls still recomend adding NetBEUI.

you dont have a MS domain, so unclick that., just make sure they are in the same workgroup, same subnet ( exactly the same subnet) and give them an ip like 100.100.1.1 ( machine 1), and 100.100.1.2 (machine 2) with a subnet of 255.255.0.0
