PBY Catalina
Been away for a while! I've recovered from my hospital stay, getting the workshop in shape, and since I put the testing on hold (pending more funds) I'm in the mean time tooling up to build an RC scale PBY Catalina.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBY_Catalina I'll post updates, if there's interest. |

Re: PBY Catalina
All the way in Denmark, eh?
I picked up a couple of 4 stroke OS engines, FS-48. Neat thing is that they run in different directions. For those unfamiliar, having counter-rotating engines eliminates the torque effect that tips the plane to one side (most people just work around the limitation). My next step here, after testing these engines out, is to build my prototype wing spar (the boom that runs the length of the wing), to see if my carbon fiber and fiberglass assembly is going to be strong enough, for its weight. |

Re: PBY Catalina
I've been in and out of modeling and RC for 20 years. I've built a plane before, and many RC boats, but never combined the two, until now. I really wanted to get into helicopters, because the physics are fascinating, but the cost is too high (even though I've already got more than $300 into this one).
