Well I found out the RAM can be upgraded. My next question is will it make a difference in the performance? If so, should I go with a 128MB or 256MB chip?

If you are moving a lot of files, JVM or in RAID it will boost performance. More the better. I thich the default on the newer model 2000 is 64 meg, where the older models only had 32.

It will act like a cache, meaning extra storage space to get files ready to be transferred and written

I have a v2 hardware 2000 that takes a DIMM. I used a Crucial PC133 CL2 128MB DIMM and I haven't had any problems.

I just upgraded my v2 Snap 2000. It seems it will only recognise 128MB. I installed a 256MB Dimm, but it only shows 134,217,728 bytes of total memory when I run the debug memory command. Has anyone been able to upgrade to 256MB or higher?

You have installed High Density ram, The snap only reconizes low density.

Thanks for the help with the RAM type.

I got a low density 256Mb stick, and the Snap now recognises it all.

I started another thread about some informal benchmarking I did comparing transfer rates with 64, 128 and 256 MB of ram.
