I have not looked at a GOS single drive unit. You should be able to clone the original HD. But I would delete all data to save time, make sure you have a backup of the data you need to keep. You should delete the share too. If the new hd is larger you will be locked to the original size if not.

If the recovery console pops up during startup, use the clean install options this will insure the OS files are not damaged. This will require you to have the GSU file.

Keep us posted on how and/or what works and problems you find. This is an open forum for others to learn.

Don't beleave them, give it a try. They want you to buy new hardware.

They said the same thing on the older snaps, 1x00, 2x00 models.

If I recall there is an option to restore back to factory settings but it does not remove any shares, just users rights on existing shares. So this will not do any good.

Since you did a clone you also got the original drive size. You will need to remove the share(s) completely from the system. In the SnapOS we had to do a format of the storage space to gain all of the space. So I suspect it may be the same if wiping out all of the storage space does not gain it. What should work would be to boot into the recovery console, then use the option for a clean install. This is what we do with multiple drive systems. To do a clean install you will need your copy of the GSU (GOS). Once in recovery console select clean install select the GSU file, set back and watch it work.

Can the snap server manager see the 110?

Did you by chance remember to change the jumpers on the HD back to it original setting. And set the new HD to master/single drive/CS?

what happens with no HD installed?

It's strange the original HD no longer boots. Jumpers set right.

Maybe someone has a diag guide on the GOS units as what the LEDS mean. Or at least let us know if it's the same as the SnapOS units.

one other thought.
You used DD to clone the HD. this normally works on the same size HD. If different it will not copy the MBR over. SO you may want to try this. I hope you did not get them mixed up and wipped out your original HD.
