Default Got my tec but im not happy :(

I got my 220w tec today but my temps are just terrible i was expecting reasonably bad temps but not this bad at idle its 31 degrees and at load its about 36 degrees. Im only running a duron 750@800 1.9volts i broke my AXP and i have it on a Maze 2 and i have a BIX with a 70cmf fan. The water temp at load are about 50 degrees!! I know thats very high but do you think its purely down to the radiaor or do you think the processor might not be making good contact.

Cheers

whoah! you need to put at 1.9v to oc a duron 50mhz!? maybe thats why your temp is so high, but still i doubt it.

make sure the block is clamped down tight and getting good contact

You need to put a huge tressure on the pelt to get it to work properly.
You need to bolt your pelt to the WB with a coldplate.
If you run the pelt directly on the CPU you wont get the full effect of the pelt. You need a coldplate to transfer the heat from the small cpu to the larger pelt.

good luck

Yea i have it clamped down well tight i rounded off my alan key doing so. Now im doing duron 750@1050 2v and according to my temp probe its at 23degrees and according to the mb its at 30 degrees so it must be caus eof my very high water temps. If you have any adive id be willing to try it.

Cheers

Can you measure the voltage going to the pelt?

Its getting 15v 18amps so it aint that the onyl thing i can think of is the cpu not making proper contact do you agree with this?

Its a Maze 2-1 with a 220w peltier powered by a lowe sps8400 psu with a BIX rad cooled by a 70cmf fan. And it was on an AXP but i think thats dead now so im running it on a duron right now the water temps are at about 50degrees and i have the duron @ defalt 750mhz at the moment at 1.9v and the motherboard is reporting temp as 37 degrees.
I know the rad isnt quite up to the job but do you think my temps should be abit better, do you think the coldplate isnt getting decent contact because with out any load the cold plate forsts up and suff so what do you guys think?

are you using some sort of thermal compound like arctic silver between: the cpu and the cold plate, the cold plate and the pelt, and the pelt and the waterblock?

i think it might be the power supply. how many volts is the pelt and how many amps. and how many amps is your power supply and how many volts? cuz normal power supplies won't give enough amps to power a 220 watt pelt

No it is a proper bench psu its rated at 15v @40 amps so its well powerfull enough. The probelm is that the on/off button has broke

The reason your temps are high is because your running to many volts into your tec you should run atleast 25 amps and 12V into your TEC more then that is just a waste and cause higher temps. (talking about the voltage line) but the 226w TEC is a 24 Amp tec so you want atleast 24 amps

Yea i know i tried other voltages but 15v was the best and i sorted my probelms and it was mainly down to the insulation getting in the way and stopping if from making propper contact. But now the ****ing ON/OFF button is ****ed so im gonna hav eto RMA it or something.

Why are you talking to me like im some sort of retard, And obyiously i have been watercooling for ages now so i decided to get a tec, It is not crap it is in my opinion one of the best. And say what you want to but the fact and the matter is 15v worked better for me than any other voltage. I DO know what im doing and it was simply down to poor clamping and insulation which you would have found out if you read my other posts.

Cheers, Yep im having alot of problems with condensation but i think ive sorted most of them now but still when ever i restart my PC it will not restart and every morning my computer will not boot i have to take it appart and redo all the processor and stuff so im still trying to find out what the problem is. But the temps seem pretty good considering my radiator. Any ideas why my PC is having these problems?

One possibility:
your CPU is so overclocked, that it must be cold before you fire up the comp.

You'd fix that by putting in a delayed relay on the on/off switch. It's a little bit of work.

To confirm that that's the case, restore your CPU speeds to something reasonable, and see if it restarts in the morning.

But i took it appart yesterday to checkif there was any condensation but there was no condensation but still it would not boot. Ive water profed all the mother baord processor and everything but i still get these problems?

It looks like you forgot to cover the socket pins.

The pins get cold too, and accumulate condensation.

The fix is a non-electrical conductive paste (I'll find a name if you're interested). Alternatively, you can use petroleum jelly. Just make sure that you stick it in there real good.
