Which p4 mobo ?

im getting a 2.4 2.53 or possibly even a 2.8 im not sure which mobo to get ive always been an AMD fan but now im gonna have a p4 system and AMD system. need to know which motherboard to get for it. also what ram will it use and what ram to get. (i know what DDR to get) i wana oc it as high as possible will probably get a TEC or phase change or both. possibly just straight watercooling.

looking for ideas please help me out !

I can't blame you for asking! As far as I've seen it seems like Intel just issued 12 different chipsets!

Personally, I'm an Asus fan. I used to resell them in Canada, and I know that they have a close relationship with Intel, and that's always good.

Asus makes a P4 mobo for DDR ram. Check them out!

I would use the IT7 MAX 2 by ABIT- great board!!! My 2.26 is stable at stock voltage at 2.8

i am currently using the asus p4s333 mobo, its a microatx motherboard that still has 5pci slots on it. It uses the sis 645 chipset, with agp 4x, ddr333 support, nothing hugely fancy, but its a very nice clean little motherboard, which has a standard molex plug on it to provide the extra juice for the p4, so u dont need a new power supply, or hunt for the converter to that damn atx12v plug

Its a hell cheap board too, like 145 bucks Australian (so about 70 american).

Very nice board, and i think you can get the p4s533 as well which is the board rated a bit higher (altho the p4s333 will do 533 fsb p4's).

As for overclockability, i think that basically as long as you get a northwood processor, you will be able to overclock a long way.

Other than that, for board choice cruise the online dealers and look at the available chipsets, then find out what options they have and what options you want, before you make your choice,

The sheer number of chipsets available dont make it anywhere near as easy as buying an AMD mobo, but just keep your eyes open and the choice will jump out at you sooner or later

I might do the same thing ur doing. And if I do, i'll get the Abit BG7. Someone suggested it becuz it has built in EVERYTHING (except ram and cpu) I think it even has built in Video. Its an Intel Chipset too so its good. Its like 120 @ newegg. I personally got the XMS3200 Corsair. Nothing less than the best. The price wasnt that bad back then. 175 for 512mb of the best memory in town.

As for cooling, I would build a water chiller (which I already did) and leech fluid into both computers. I recommend u either get RV Fluid (FDA approved glycol) or Windshield washer fluid. Dont forget the Water Wetter too. It DOES NOT the freezing point of water. Just wanted to let u kno that. The water chiller will work BETTER when u put it under high load. Under no load, u'll have LOADS of problems that sux0r big time. (that does include exploding compressors)

How about the Soyo p4x400? It has onboard raid, onboard 5.1 audio, ddr 400 support, and many other features.

I got this board, along with a 2.4 GHz processor, and haven't been sorry. I made it up to 2.9 GHz, with the stock heatsink (but not for long

. I'm currently at 2.7, rock stable, with stock heatsink.
