Simple: use as powerful a pump as you financially see fit.
In other words, spend as much on a pump as you (reasonably) can: it'll never be too small. |

Many people will argue otherwise, but I have yet to see someone prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that it is not optimal (nor relevant, for that matter!). Too many variables. |

Don't suppose you read Dave's article. (Linked above) You certainly can have more pump than is beneficial. |

It seems to have dropped temps about 10C. I think this is mainly due to the airflow throuigh the rad (Dual fans and better shrouds) however the increaase in flowrate probably had effect. As for those going on about it would be best to go CPU first etc, then you do the pipe runs that will still allow me to access everything easily etc. The res looks a bit scrappy atm, I will in the future paint it etc. It is sealed however, but theres probably a bit of air in there. |

All other things being equal, including the volume and temperature of air flowing past the radiator, you would always be "best" having the radiator directly ahead of the block. This isn't rocket science and the radiator is the only thing that lowers water temperature. If not the coolest when leaving the radiator, then where? What's not so obvious is how one gets the coolest air to the radiator, which can matter more than where it sits in relation to the block and pump. Radiator ahead or behind the pump generally means a difference measured in tenths of a degree C. Radiator position relative to "the rest of the world" can mean an air temperature difference of easily 2°C or more. |
