power ratings

just something i've been thinking about for a while, and wondering, has anyone else thought of this? as far as the psu's and all that go for peltiers, taking in consideration here the 226W pelitier, how is all this power distributed? what i mean is, yeah, you can throw an extra psu in the case, and everything's powered and happy. however, what about your house/office/apartment? anyone ever set this stuff on fire this way? if you plug all this into one outlet, it shouldn't work right. i could be wrong, but here's what i'm saying:

house circuits are generally 15 or 20 amps. the 226W peltier at dangerden is said to pull 24a. now add this to the enermax 650W psu, and it looks to me like you'd have a problem. how does everyone get around this? just curious.

again, i could be wrong, but that just seems too much for an electric system. i personally installed my own outlets for my computer crap in my apartment, but i only installed 2 20A circuits.

He he.

an outlet will provide 15 amps at 110 V (AC), which is about 1650 Watts.

The pelt will draw about 24 amps, but only at about 12 Volts, for roughly 288 Watts.

P= V * I

Try explaining to your insurance agent that the reason your house burnt down was because you wanted a few extra Mhz. See how she likes it.

Then offer to overclock her calculator with a crazed look in your eye.
