Ack! My MCP 300 pump's leaking!

Hi everyone!

You can probably already tell my predicament from the title of the thread. My pump sprung a leak and now I need a replacement for it. Only thing is I don't know what kind of pump to go with now.

I need a pump that is relatively the same size if not smaller, but I don't want the same pump. I've heard too many horror stories about 'em that kind of makes me wary of buying another one.

Any suggestions or recommendations on what I should look for? Any and all input would be most appreciated.

hydor L20?...... mcp600 is a bit bigger than the 300

Well i think hydors are bigger but the only one that springs to mind is dangerdens new pump but ive heard is very noisey! Possibly maxijet1200? not the best for flow but small.

I've been reading in a few other posts about the Danner Mag Series Pumps... particularly #3. Any opinion on those?

hydor L20 is:
Length 3.5" (89mm)
Width 2.0" (51mm)
Height 3.0" (76mm)

Remember u gotta add hose barbs on that L20

The danner mag3 is a great pump but is bigger

where is your pump leaking from? it might be possible to repair it with some JB Weld or water pump RTV silicone sealant.

the danner mag 3 pump measures 3.81" wide (98mm) by 3.19" tall (82mm) by 4.31" (111mm) deep. the baseplate is 0.38" (10mm) high. the pump can be mounted on the bottom or the side (in other words, the width and height measurements are interchangable). also, the housing can be rotated around to however you want it. measurements do not include hose barbs.

are you sure? - it comes with 12.5mm fittings...

They are built in on the DD pump

the diagram was of an mcp300 (for comparison purposes...)...

I've read recently that Swiftech will actually exchange MCP300s for 600's if you speak to them. Sorry i can't be more helpful i don't know all the details but it might be worth a look. u said it's too big but you cant complain if it's free right?

Via Aqua 1300's are small and powerful, but I have had reliability issues with them. This was probably due to the setup I had at the time though.

No it wasn't. They are poor quality pumps. Why does it need to be so small? The Mag 3 is what I'd suggest, but AFTER trying to fix this, with some silicone, or JB weld or the like.

Fully submersible (cannot be used as an external closed circuit pump)

so you'd need to use it submerged in a res - inline use is impossible...
